About me
I’m Shirin Karimi, and I hold a degree in naturopathic medicine. I was first introduced to naturopathic medicine during my own healing journey. For years I suffered from seemingly disparate symptoms, going to various doctors and specialists who were unable to explain or help my problems. I tried different treatments, pills, and therapies - conventional, traditional, and alternative - but nothing really worked. Sometimes I’d feel better for a short time, but the symptoms would return, sometimes so bad leaving the house was an issue. Finally I met a naturopathic doctor, and through her treatments and my changes, my symptoms cleared. From that point, I saw and experienced the power of this system of health, how the whole body is deeply interconnected, and while your body might show up with complaints in different places and different ways, the problems are often interlinked. You need a holistic view and understanding of the entire body, including the physical, mental, and emotional.
True health involves a 360° view
My various physical ailments went all over from neurological, digestive, ocular, respiratory, oral, urinary, muscular, and joint disorders plus a hernia and mold toxicity…
Looking back over my life, as I’ve advanced in my healing journey, I’m able to see how I suffered from not only physical but mental and emotional troubles for years as well. And they are not separate. The human experience is complex. That is why naturopathic medicine is so powerful - it takes into account the WHOLE you.
A lifetime of learning
I was introduced to the power of our food and nutrition from an early age. As a young adult, I learned about nutrition, whole food healthy cooking, and adopted various diets. That expanded into learning about and using herbs and medicinal plants and also studying Ayurveda (India’s 5000+ year-old system of medicine) as well as receiving treatment at an Ayurvedic hospital in India.
.The power of movement with yoga, dance, and strength training also permeated my life and brought another level of knowledge and awareness about my body.
As the science continues to advance and we learn more and more about what we don’t know, what mysteries lie within the human experience yet to be uncovered, we learn how complex and beautiful the human body is.
I’m delighted to be on this path of learning and discovery. And I look forward to applying all that I have learned over these years to help you achieve your true health.
